If you wish to be published by Wisdom Tree but are not sure of the submission guidelines, the following questions will help you understand the process of submission, evaluation and publication of manuscripts at Wisdom Tree:
1. What kind of book proposals will be eligible for submission?
Wisdom Tree accepts book proposals in English language on art and culture, spirituality, communication, management and subjects of general interest, such as positive thinking, child rearing, cooking, gardening, etc.
As we are not textbook publishers and neither do we publish fiction nor scientific research titles, a proposal sent on the aforementioned areas do not merit our evaluation.
2. What should my proposal contain?
Ideally your proposal should contain:
(i) A detailed synopsis of the book, structure and content and chapter outline with two sample chapters of the book you propose and by what time-frame you can provide us with the whole manuscript and in what form, i.e. soft copy or hard copy. The synopsis should also specify the unique traits of your work which you believe has a competitive edge over titles of other publishers. If photographs or illustrations accompany your book, it would help us to know whether these are to be provided by you or obtained from outside sources.
(ii) Author details as to whether you are a first-time author or a published author. If you are a published author, please provide us with details of the said book(s) and concerned publisher(s).
(iii) A query letter with the detailed synopsis should include what you think is the potential market for the book proposed by you, whether you can help us promote and market the book and your suggestion on the number of copies which you intend to sell per annum. The query letter should also comprise your contact address, mail id and phone number for communication purposes.
You can send the complete manuscript to us only when we ask you to do so.
3. How do I send my proposal and to whom do I send it?
Do mail your proposal to firstname.lastname@example.org
Please retain a copy of the proposal and sample chapters that you send us, as we do not return any material that is sent to us. Please do not send us a manuscript if you have already sent it for evaluation elsewhere.
4. How long does the evaluation take and do I get any feedback on the status of my proposal?
A preliminary evaluation of the synopsis and sample chapters and its potential for publication are made. If your proposal is suitable, we get in touch with you so that we can look forward to working with you. However, if your proposal is not suitable, we inform you of the same. Please refrain from sending a proposal that has been rejected by us once. Your proposal is given due importance and you will receive communication of its status within a reasonable timeline.
